Packing Tips Before Moving Day

Packing is often one of the most time-consuming parts of moving house. Starting early can help you avoid rushing and make moving day more organised.

Begin with rooms and items that are not used regularly. Books, decorations, seasonal clothing, spare appliances, and storage items can usually be packed weeks before the move.

Use strong boxes that are suitable for the items inside. Avoid making boxes too heavy, particularly when packing books, kitchenware, or other dense belongings. Fragile items should be wrapped individually using suitable protective materials.

Label every box clearly. Include the room name and a short description of the contents. You can also mark boxes containing fragile items so they can be handled carefully.

Keep an essentials box for moving day. This can include toiletries, basic clothing, chargers, important documents, medications, snacks, cleaning supplies, and other items you may need immediately after arriving.

Large furniture should be checked before moving day. Remove loose parts where practical and keep screws or fittings in labelled bags.

Finally, leave enough time for cleaning and final checks. A well-organised packing process can reduce delays and make it easier to unpack once you reach your new home.
